Upon exchanging on the current concerning evolution of the tensions in Middle East, we are glad to observe the shared interests with Switzerland for a return to diplomacy and a swift de-escalation.

Despite multiple fruitful exchanges, Switzerland will not proceed with a stronger engagement  with the W.E.D at the moment. We nonetheless appreciate the shared goals of diplomacy that we both consider as paramount.

Last week’s meeting proved to be a fruitful exchange, during which a multitude of ideas were shared, and critical global issues were addressed as the Secretary General exposed in deeper details the initiatives and goals of the World Embassy Desk. We are grateful for the opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue with the Ambassador, whose dedication to upholding Switzerland’s principles of neutrality and equality was evident throughout our discussions.

The swift follow-up by the embassy and the constructive tone during our meeting underscore Switzerland’s dedication to taking our project seriously and with great interest. This multi-level engagement within the federal government speaks to Switzerland’s commitment to the neutral and principled application of international law. It reinforces the importance they place on understanding diverse perspectives and exploring avenues for cooperation.

We are excited to see our dialogue with Switzerland progresses and evolves.

We are delighted to announce the WED is making strides in its mission towards new array of diplomacy!

Recently, we had the honour of engaging in discussions with high-ranking officials from Switzerland. These recent discussions, initiated with the office of the Foreign Affairs Minister and further continued at the embassy level, highlight Switzerland’s commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration.

Despite initial scheduling constraints, we were heartened by the responsiveness and genuine interest shown by Swiss officials in considering our proposal. The Secretary, embodying Switzerland’s renowned commitment to neutrality and fairness, graciously facilitated a meeting with the Swiss Ambassador in the Netherlands which will be taken place in the coming weeks.

As an organization dedicated to upholding the principles of international law, we view Switzerland as a valued partner in advancing our shared objectives. We are encouraged by the positive momentum generated by our discussions and remain committed to nurturing this burgeoning relationship.

Strength of the WED

A positive effect of the WED will be that its actions will not affect the relationship between states. After all, states are not the ones who will act against the state that violates the international agreements; the WED will act on behalf of all members, while the member states will just act according to their commitments to the WED.

Another positive outcome of the WED will be that states will not be able to abuse their economic or military power to force others to act according to their will or to accept a breach by them. After all, by doing that, those states are not only breaching international agreements but also intending to make innocent civilians suffer only for their own agenda. Indeed, just as we as humans may not force our neighbours to live as we see fit, states may not force this on other states, either.
