Resolution on Israel’s Violations of International Law and Humanitarian Obligations in Palestine and the Occupied Syrian Golan

On 10 February 2025, the World Embassy Desk (WED) adopted Resolution WED/S/RES/250122, determining that the State of Israel has contravened international law including humanitarian law in Palestine and Syria. The resolution strongly condemns Israel’s continued occupation and de facto annexation of Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Syrian Golan, actions deemed to be in violation of relevant United Nations resolutions.

The resolution also highlights Israel’s extensive military operations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the occupied Syrian Golan, which have resulted in widespread civilian casualties and destruction of property. Furthermore, it condemns Israel’s establishment and expansion of settlements in these areas, characterizing such activities as a flagrant breach of international law and a significant obstacle to peace.

The resolution reaffirms Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention, and calls for the immediate cessation of military activities and withdrawal from all territories occupied since 1967, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 and subsequent resolutions. It also urges the international community to take necessary measures to ensure Israel’s compliance with international law and to support the inalienable right of Palestinian and Syrian peoples to self-determination and independence.
