UK Responds to WED Letter, Reaffirms Commitment to Diplomacy in Israel-Iran Conflict
In response to a letter from the World Embassy Desk (WED) dated 19 June, the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has reiterated its call for restraint, calm, and a return to diplomacy in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. The UK stressed that regional stability in the Middle East remains its highest priority and urged both sides to honour the ceasefire as a crucial step towards peace.
The UK reaffirmed its longstanding concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme. London expressed continued support for international diplomatic efforts to bring Tehran back to the negotiation table and indicated it is prepared to use all diplomatic measures, including “snapback” sanctions if necessary.
The FCDO emphasised that the UK is not involved in any US or Israeli military actions and that its focus remains on de-escalation and diplomacy. The UK confirmed it will continue working closely with international partners to advance a diplomatic settlement and promote long-term stability in the region.
