Solidarity with GCC States Affected by Regional Escalation
The World Embassy Desk (WED) has taken note of the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East and the widening scope of military actions affecting several states in the region.
In this context, the WED wishes to express its solidarity with the governments and peoples of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, namely the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the State of Qatar, and the Sultanate of Oman, whose territories and security have been affected by recent military actions directed at facilities and installations located within their borders.
The WED recognizes that many of these incidents involve attacks on military installations or foreign bases situated within the territories of sovereign states. Nevertheless, such actions inevitably carry significant risks for the safety of civilian populations, the stability of national infrastructure, and the broader peace and security of the region.
The WED acknowledges that states possess the inherent right to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity. At the same time, governments carry a primary responsibility to safeguard the security and well-being of their civilian populations. In times of rising tensions, this responsibility requires that the protection of human life and regional stability remain the foremost consideration.
For this reason, the WED considers it particularly important at this moment that states intensify diplomatic engagement and pursue dialogue. Constructive consultation, cooperation, and diplomacy remain the most effective means of preventing further escalation and ensuring that disputes are addressed through peaceful channels.
The WED therefore encourages all parties concerned to consider de-escalatory steps and to engage with one another in good faith, with a view to reducing tensions and preventing further harm to civilians and critical infrastructure across the region.
The World Embassy Desk remains committed to supporting dialogue and diplomatic engagement among the states concerned and stands ready, where appropriate, to contribute to initiatives that promote cooperation, stability, and peaceful coexistence in the region.
