WED Expresses Concern Over Threats Against Oman and the Erosion of Diplomacy
The World Embassy Desk (WED) expresses its serious concern regarding the repeated use of threats of force in international relations, this time directed toward the Sultanate of Oman.
WED notes with concern that diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful dispute resolution appear to be increasingly losing ground to coercive rhetoric and power politics. The growing normalization of threats of violence risks undermining the foundations of the international legal order, where the rule of law risks being replaced by the rule of strength.
Oman has long played a constructive and balanced diplomatic role in regional and international affairs, particularly as a channel for dialogue and de-escalation in times of crisis. Threats directed against states that actively contribute to mediation and diplomacy are deeply troubling and may further weaken already fragile diplomatic mechanisms.
WED expresses its solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman and reiterates the importance of restraint, mutual respect between states, and strict adherence to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
The international community must continue to prioritize diplomacy over escalation and dialogue over intimidation.
